Garry Stiven / Trustee
Since driving overland from the UK to India in the late 1960s to work as a teaching volunteer in Kashmir, Garry has always had a love for adventure, India, and helping people.

From India, Garry took a British India cargo ship onwards to Brisbane, Australia, calling at long-forgotten places such as East Pakistan and Port Swettenham. The adventuring continued with a hot, dusty, and dangerous drive across the Nullarbor Desert — 1,200 km of dirt road.

Whilst working for Save the Children Fund in the Republic of Honduras, the neighbouring country of Guatemala was struck by a major earthquake that took the lives of over 20,000 people in a matter of minutes. Garry and a team of nurses and doctors from the Honduran team were the first overseas aid workers to arrive at the devastated epicentre near Guatemala City.

Shortly after retiring, Garry heard about Adventure Ashram and its amazing work in India with Odanadi and the Grace Charitable Trust, and how their values and vision were so much in tune with his own.
\
After a ten-day fact-finding mission to both charities in India, Garry fell in love with the projects and feels he has found his ideal "retirement home", where he hopes to use his wide experience to help Adventure Ashram achieve their wonderful goals.
