Colin Taylor / Chair of Trustees

Colin worked for the Ambulance Service from 1995, qualifying as a Paramedic two years later until retirement in September 2021. He held a number of management posts within South East Coast Ambulance Service and was their Head of Risk Management and latterly the Serious Incident Lead.

Colin was born and educated in Kent. He trained in retail management and was Area Manager for an in-store credit card provider. He changed career direction and joined Kent Ambulance Service. For nearly 20 years he was a school governor of Wainscott Primary School until retiring from the position of Chairman of Governors in October 2010. He became a founder Trustee of a small non-profit organisation, Share A Star, set up by one of his daughters to support children and young people with severe or terminal illness during her own recovery from severe ME/CFS.

Colin has three children and two granddaughters, and lives near Rochester, in Kent. In 2003 at very short notice, he became part of the medical team supporting the first EnduroIndia sponsored motorbike ride as a "once in a lifetime trip" and with only one exception went back every year following until the closure of Global Enduro!  He took on the role of Medical Coordinator for Global Enduro and was asked to become a trustee of the then new charity, Adventure Ashram. He owns a Letterpress printing machine, housed in his garage, sings in his church and for an acapella group called TaylorMade and is a member and volunteer with British Naturism. Retirement should mean he has more time to spend toiling on his large allotment.
