A message from our Chair of Trustees about our new CEO Jemina Talja
'The search is over and I’m pleased to announce that our new Chief Executive Officer joins the charity on 19 March.
Jemina Talja joins us with a good background in fundraising and management roles and experience in helping small charities in achieving their vision. Her last role was as a Development Director for Action on Elder Abuse, a charity tackling the abuse of older people across the UK. In this role she developed the organisation’s fundraising activities from scratch, creating significant growth and quadrupled its annual budget.
Previous experience has included Project Manager at the Foundation for Social Improvement (FSI) where she delivered a wide range of initiatives and supported a number of UK charities in their organisational development through the consultancy branch of the Foundation. Jemina is currently a Trustee of a small charity supporting young women from underserved communities into journalism, digital media and filmmaking, and has previously sat on the board of the Finnish Institute of Fundraising and Finnish Red Nose Day.
Jemina said “I am passionate about smaller organisations and the difference they make, and cherish the opportunity to be a part of growing their impact and reach.”
The task of finding a new CEO with the passion and commitment that Fritha showed was never going to be easy but we have found someone with experience in small charities, a highly motivated fundraiser with experience working for different international development organisations and knowledge of turning strategies into practical actions.
I and the Trustee Board very much look forward to working with Jemina. For those of you joining us for the UK Rally you will be able to meet Jemina and discuss her plans for continuing the work of our small but mighty charity. Jemina will be writing an introductory article for our social media networks soon.
Welcome to the Adventure Ashram family, Jemina!'
