Covid-19 and our partners in India

First and foremost, we hope you are safe and well.

As governments, organisations and individuals around the world continue to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic, I wanted to give you a brief update on how our partners in India are faring during this difficult time.

The Indian Government has announced that all schools and colleges must close immediately and remain closed until 31st March. Solomon at Grace Charitable Trust has told us that the children around Masinagudi are coping well and everyone is safe and secure in the jungle for now. The GCT tuition centres remain open for providing children with educational support where needed.

The creche health check provision with Dr Kolhatkar (Doc) continues for now, but we have been told it is likely at some point the creches will close temporarily. We have made the decision to postpone the distribution of health kits to local families and will continue with this project as soon as the situation allows us to do so.

The cancellation of many events around the Yoga Stops Traffick fundraiser for the Odanadi Seva Trust girls house remains a financial concern. This annual event provides Odanadi with a large percentage of the funds needed to provide shelter and food for girls and women rescued from situations of trafficking. We are working hard to mitigate any loss of income and will reschedule events as soon as we are able to do so.

There have been no coronavirus symptoms displayed at either of the Odanadi safe houses for now and hygiene and cleanliness have been made a priority. The mechanics training continues for now and the situation is assessed on a daily basis.

We will do our best to keep you informed, but if you have any questions please contact me at jemina@adventureashram.org

Thank you for your continued support! Jemina & The Adventure Ashram Team
